East Coast Boston Movers Company Policies
At East Coast Boston Movers, we work hard to make every move safe, organized, and worry-free. Please review these quick reminders to ensure a smooth moving experience and understand your rights regarding claims.
Customer Responsibilities for Local Moving Services
At East Coast Boston Movers, our goal is to make every local move in the Greater Boston area smooth, efficient, and worry-free. To help us deliver exceptional service and ensure that all policies are clear, customers are asked to review the following responsibilities before, during, and after their move.
These guidelines protect both you and our team—and ensure that any potential claims can be handled quickly and fairly.
1. Be Present or Designate a Representative
Customers must be present at both the origin and destination locations for the entire duration of the move, or appoint an authorized representative. This person should be able to:
Walk through the property with the movers.
Verify which items are being moved.
Approve any last-minute changes or special handling.
Sign all required paperwork at pickup and delivery.
2. Prepare Items and Property for Moving
Before the moving crew arrives, please:
Pack all personal belongings securely unless you’ve requested professional packing services.
Label fragile boxes clearly.
Unplug and disconnect electronics, appliances, and light fixtures (unless agreed otherwise).
Remove items from drawers and shelves.
Clear pathways, stairs, and entryways for safe access.
Movers are not responsible for items packed improperly by the customer unless damage is directly caused by mishandling.
3. Protect High-Value and Personal Items
Customers should remove and transport personal or irreplaceable items themselves. These include:
Jewelry, cash, important documents, medical records, keys, and prescription medications.
Sentimental or one-of-a-kind items are not covered by standard valuation.
High-value items (over $100 per pound per article) should be declared in writing before the move to ensure proper protection and eligibility for claims.
4. Provide Access and Parking
The customer is responsible for securing adequate parking and building access for the moving truck. This includes:
Reserving loading zones or obtaining parking permits where required.
Scheduling elevator reservations in apartment buildings.
Clearing obstacles such as snow, vehicles, or construction materials that may delay service.
Any delays caused by limited access may result in additional time or charges.
5. Review and Sign Paperwork
Before the move begins, customers should review and sign:
The Bill of Lading (your moving contract).
The Inventory List, if applicable.
Any Valuation Coverage forms.
Please ensure that all details—including addresses, contact numbers, and payment terms—are accurate before signing.
6. Inspect Items Upon Delivery
When the move is complete:
Walk through your new home with the crew leader.
Verify that all furniture and boxes have been delivered and placed correctly.
Inspect items for visible damage or missing pieces before signing the delivery receipt.
Make note of any issues immediately on the paperwork before signing off.
7. Final Payment
Payment for local moving services is due upon completion of the move unless otherwise agreed in writing. Payment may be made via cash, credit card, or certified check. Gratuity for movers is always appreciated but optional.
8. After the Move
Customers are encouraged to:
Double-check all areas of the home for forgotten items.
Keep all moving documents for their records.
Contact East Coast Boston Movers immediately if any concerns arise after delivery.
9. Reporting Damages or Filing a Claim
If you discover damage or loss, please report it promptly.
How to File a Claim:
Notify East Coast Boston Movers in writing within 10 days of the move date (or within 48–72 hours for visible damages).
Provide supporting documentation such as photos, inventory references, and a brief description of the issue.
Our claims team will review the report and respond with available options under your
chosen valuation coverage.
What You Can Claim:
Repair costs for damaged items when possible.
Replacement or reimbursement (based on valuation coverage) for irreparable or lost items.
Partial compensation for cosmetic or minor damage as determined under federal and state moving regulations.
Please note: Claims are processed based on the coverage selected—either Basic Valuation (Released Value Protection) or Full-Value Protection if purchased. Basic coverage typically provides up to $0.60 per pound per article, while Full-Value Protection offers higher reimbursement options.
Our Commitment to You
At East Coast Boston Movers, we’re committed to clear communication, fair pricing, and responsible handling of your belongings. By following these responsibilities, you help us ensure that every local move is efficient, protected, and fully supported under our claim policies.

Mark any missing or visibly damaged items on the inventory sheet before signing.
